Lido Golf Club

Lido Golf Club

I played Lido Golf Club once, at an outing. It is located in a big beach area, a long drive with

traffic, and out of my way. Living in Manorville, I have so many choices that are within a 20

minute drive, I will choose them first. With this one, I am missing out. Granted, depending on

the weather, I might decide to hit the beach instead, just because I’m there.

This was a business outing, with a former coworker who is always a good time. We even

took him on vacations with us. We laughed all day. We left the ranger shaking his head

because we all bought fishing poles. We didn’t catch anything, but we made an impression. A

few were jealous that they never thought of it. I won’t call it the nicest outing I ever went to,

but it was the most fun I ever had at one.

So how was the golf? We had 1 good player with us, and the rest of us played up a bit.

Considering we were on a barrier island, there is a lot of water. I may have hit a fish with a ball.

The 1st 2 holes are pretty dry, so they went pretty well. 3rd tee shot, splash!

The 5th hole we were more interested in fishing. The 2 of us who played the par 3 were

rewarded with pars. The irony that we were also invited on a fishing trip the same day wasn’t

lost on us. The good thing is the ocean breeze made a 95 degree day bearable. Why no one

likes having outings in early spring or in the fall is beyond me.

The rest of the front has a nice layout. I should have taken pic of the fishing poles on the

carts. My mentor told me it doesn’t matter if you are good or bad as long as you look good

doing it, we made an impression.

10, 11, 12 went well. 13 was back to fishing. I don’t think I even hit a shot on it. 14–17 the

water is really in play. 4 holes, 6 splashes. I should have stuck with fishing. The round went

slow, like most outings do, and these holes especially slowed down. I think we lost interest.

The par on 18 felt like a gift for a round I never really got that into. We were more just swinging

away all day and hoping for the best. We were laughing too much to even pretend we were

taking the round seriously. I never saw the club house since they put a tent up for us.

I will say, this is a beautiful course. 14–17 are a little over my pay grade with all the water,

but they are laid out nicely. It would be an interesting course if we were even pretending to

take it seriously. I don’t think we even bothered to keep score. The pranks were in full effect

and I think everyone in the outing hit at least 1 exploding ball. They didn’t go for me declaring

it a hole in one. Despite the actual golf being the bottom of our priority list, I would highly

recommend this course. Then you have Long Beach right there, and it is a fun party town. I

recommend using uber.
